On Tuesday 27th August the 9 holers played stabeford. Glenys Scheliin had 14 points. Sheryl Stanners and Shirley Cawley won Hilda White and the flight was won by Jennifer Patterson and Flo Coburn. Ten players played stableford and the best scores were Pauline Downs 43, Janice Walton 41 and Sharon Duthie 32. Next week 10th September is Strokeplay Championship Round 2. Starters are Heather Vivian and Jennifer Patterson.
The Saturday Ladies played the Top Cat final. The overall winners were Jennifer Patterson and Heather Vivian, with runners up Diane Morresey and Sandra Hancock. The rest played stableford, the best being Ann Braithwaite with 37. Next week is a Strokeplay Competition Round 1.
A bitterly cold but fine day allowed the Seniors to contest a stableford competition.
Best scores were – Ladies – Miro Elliott 36, Ann Braithwaite 35. Men – Warren Dymond 39, Marty Reeves 38, Trevor Percival 37, Bill Whyte 36 and Ray Reitzema, Michael Walsh and Charlie Downs 35. Two’s - Marty Reeves. 9 Holers stableford – Glenys Scheliin 18, Ann Gordon 16.
Next Seniors Golf is on Friday, 6th September at 9am.
A freezing Friday gave way to a sunny Saturday that made for pleasant conditions for the first round of the Matchplay Championships.
With the Egmont Championship on this Sunday 8th September, the match committee has decided that golfers have two weeks to play their second round matches - they must be played by Saturday, 14th September. A draw will be done next week for those 2nd round matches not yet completed in the Intermediate, Junior and Roy Wills divisions. Finals day will be on Saturday 28th September.
The best scores in the stableford competition were Grant Kite 37, Lance Fenton, Barry Knowles 34. Two’s to N Jeffrey, R Brider and C Caskey.
This Saturday those who wish to play matches can do so and a haggle will be held if numbers warrant. Late entries will be taken for the Egmont Championship up to Saturday evening. The 100 club tournament is on November 9th, with entry fees to confirm your entry to be paid to Jono Erwood please.

Stratford is a flat course but with challenges. It has beautiful views of Mt Egmont to the west
and to the east Mts.Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe of the Central Plateau. Springtime
sees the course bathed in beauty with many varieties of spring flowers. It is a great venue
for Corporate Golf Days, with an easy walking course, bbq facilities and a roomy clubhouse.
